Laura took a travel agent's course at Confederation College and worked for the Royal Bank. She later worked in her father's insurance business. She married Robert Theodore Trochimchuk (son of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Trochimchuk) on June 18, 1988. He was in sales with Dingwell's Machinery in Thunder Bay. They had the following child:
  1. Kelsey Victoria Trochimchuk (b. July 14, 1989).
She married Thomas Pelletier in Thunder Bay on April 7, 1993. He and his father owned Pelletier Auto Body. Tom had a son, Roy, with a different mother. Roy married Christa Rae Johnson (b. December 7, 1979) on August 6, 1999. They had two sons, Lyndon Thomas Pelletier, b. October 31, 2002, and Carl Emerson Pelletier, b. March 11, 2004.
