Earl Bruce Hansford graduated from Tweed High School in 1927. He was very active in sports, especially hockey, football, and tennis. He completed two years at Queens University at Kingston, majoring in geology. At the school, he was a singles and doubles champion in tennis. He was also very active in Army Cadets (achieving the rank of Lt. Colonel). After leaving the school, he traveled to Falconbridge, where he then worked for Falconbridge Nickel Mines. Bruce married Catherine Cavell Sims (d. June 25, 1984) in 1936, at Carson. Cavell had graduated from high school in 1934. She was very active in church activities and curling. They resided in Falconbridge from 1936 to 1945, in Kingsbridge from 1945 to 1948, in Galt from 1948 to 1977, and in Kitchener from 1977 to 1984. They are buried in Tweed. They had the following children:

  1. Edward Bruce Hansford (1938-1990)
  2. Frank Hugh Hansford (1944-)
  3. Raymond Paul Hansford (1949-)
